Want to Learn how to make your free website using WordPress?

What is WordPress anyway?

Here is Wikipedia’s explanation of what WordPress is:WordPress is an open source CMS, often used as a blog publishing application powered by PHP and MySQL.

It has many features including a plugin architecture and a templating system. Used by over 12% of the 1,000,000 biggest websites, WordPress is the most popular CMS in use today.”

That’s great and well said. However, I would like to explain this further in my own words.

In the text below, I will tell you what WordPress means to me and how it could change the way you go further in your online website building or online business. If you are already using WordPress, great!

If you are new and you don’t have a website yet, WordPress is the answer. Why? It’s easy to use and you can do all the work yourself. However, if you don’t want to touch it, get someone to do the work for you at Elance or Odesk.

But, the moment you get your first WordPress site up you won’t bother hiring anyone to do it for you. I’ve had a few site professionally done but the majority of my WordPress site are done the same way. I do it all myself and….so will you!

I am going to show you everything. By the time you’re finish reading this page, you’ll be well on your way to getting your first site up.

A little background: I didn’t get where I am today quickly. It took me sometime. I bought a bunch of products and watch a tone of videos to teach myself.

I signed up to numerous marketing professional email list just so I could learn more. My first year was horrible and hard. I was learning something new everyday and I felt like giving up. But that didn’t stop me. Over time though, I began to increased in knowledge and my online income grew every year.

Everything was achieved using WordPress sites. Most of them simple website on my own hosting account (which you will need). You can do the same so don’t be afraid.

Here goes:

First of all WordPress is easy. You will need two things to get started. You will need a Hosting Account (Hostgator preferably) and a domain.

This is where you will set up your first website. Hostgator have share hosting packages from $3.95-$9.99 a month. It changes all the time so don’t quote me on the exact pricing. What are packages? It’s like buying a cell phone plan. Each plan comes with perks, advantages and disadvantages.

You could get unlimited data or you will have to pay for unlimited data. With Hostgator plans, you have the option of choosing one of three hosting plans.

I don’t suggest going for the business plan if you are not going to have a business website. However, if that is what you plan to do later, go for it now as plans tends to change over time.

Ordering your domain and hosting plan is easy. All you do is pick one of the three plans.

Follow the instruction and write down everything in a book so you can refer later to information from Hostgator.

Your hosting plan will have the ability to let you share a number of sites on your primary domain. I know this might sound confusing but please stay with me.

Once you buy your domain and hosting plan, you will have some login details from Hostgator. You will get access to a cpanel. This simple means “Control Panel“.

You should receive all this information in the email inbox you supplied when you signed up for your shared hosting package.

How to Log Into Cpanel?

You have two options. The first is to just enter your domain and the word cpanel after it. Here is what I mean. http://youdomain.com/cpanel

You should see a login box and password box. Enter your details and you should be in. What your looking at is the control panel of your hosting package. You will install your WordPress sites here.

You also don’t have to buy another hosting plan. Your hosting plan allows you to share unlimited websites on this one plan. Your new domains can be bought else where. I use Namecheap.com. Why? The price is good and the set up is easy.

Now that you know what to do, here is the other part of WodPress that makes it ideal for new comers.

It’s very easy to install. It’s easy to customize and it is very flexible. Also, adding headers are also easy and the templates are also free. There are thousands of paid ones and you can buy them if you like but the free ones will do for now.

Take a look at these free templates, what do you think? They are awesome right? Cool!

The next this about WordPress is that they comes with these things call plugins. These plugins enhance your WordPress site. There are good plugins and bad plugins. The ones I use are located here in my free report and the ones that you must have are also in that free report.

Another all important factor to owning a wordpress website is that you own it and control it. Not one can delete it or take it down without your knowledge. Unless you break the terms of service of your hosting provider, your sites will be up.

As much as I like recommending free websites, it’s not something I encourage if you plan to earn money from your site. When it comes to creating an income stream, I don’t suggest people use them. Use them for link building.

Although there are a few that I do like and use, Squidoo, Blogger, Wix, Weebly, Webnode, Webs.com, try your best to stay away when it comes to making money from them.

I’ve had many of my free websites deleted and my hard work went down the drain. This is the reason I like WordPress sites and recommend them.

I must warn you though….cause some people like to rush things and want the easy way out. They also want instant result.

There is no such thing!! Remember this WordPress thing is something new that you will be learning. Give yourself some time to become acquainted with it. I will provide videos on how to set up everything.

This simple WordPress site is one that I set up using the exact method you will be using. Do you think you can do that? Sure you can!

I know you can…..so don’t get too worried.

There are a few other programs and people I will recommend you learn from. These folks have been instrumental to me and I know they will do the same for you.

Remember, your first WordPress website will be a milestone. Make sure you get a book to write down everything so you don’t get lost or can’t find something important.

What’s next Michael?

Go and get your site up! If you are ready to get started on your first WordPress website, head on over to Hostgator and grad your domain and hosting. You could use a .com/.net/.org. What’s best to use? A .com is best, .net is the next best extension and then .org. I’ve seen and have had .org outranked dot com domains.

What this means is that if the domain extension you are looking for is already taken, grab the .org if possible. You could also use a hyphen between your domain. Here’s what I mean. http://1234-5678.com.

Remember to have an idea of what your site will be about. If you don’t have a clue yet, read this article first. Then go back and get your domain/hosting at Hostgator.
